ESPN Set to Shuffle Regional NBA Coverage

A report from Ryan Glasspiegal at The Big Lead suggests ESPN is on the verge of shaking up its staff of NBA beat writers. The moves include the addition of Malika Andrews and the reassignment of Nick Friedell.

Glasspiegal cites a source “with knowledge of the news” saying that Andrews will leave the Chicago Tribune to cover ESPN’s Midwestern NBA beat. That assignment will include following the Bulls, Timberwolves, and Bucks. Andrews had previously written for the Associated PressYahoo Sports, and The New York Times.

The man that had that beat last year was Nick Friedell. He will be reassigned to the West Coast as ESPN’s Golden State Warriors beat writer. The job became available when Chris Haynes left ESPN for Yahoo Sports.
