NBA Reporter Dave McMenamin will continue working the LeBron beat for ESPN. He spent the last four years in Cleveland covering the Cavaliers. The new deal will move McMenamin back to LA to cover the Lakers, which he did for five years before moving to Cleveland.
McMenamin told Awful Announcing that other companies were interested in his services, but staying at ESPN was always his priority. “It’s always been a place I aspired to get to, and the fact that I’ve been able to actually grow in my role and expand it since I got my foot in the door, there’s no other place I really wanted to be.”
McMenamin said he knew a move to LA was a possibility when LeBron James signed with the Lakers, given his experience with both entities. ESPN will but him to use on multiple platforms. McMenamin is expected to write, make TV and radio appearances, and host podcasts for the World Wide Leader.
