Hubie Brown may be the sports media’s living embodiment of the phrase “age ain’t nothing but a number.” The 85-year-old NBA analyst clearly doesn’t have retirement on the brain. He just signed a multi-year contract extension at ESPN.
He isn’t slowing down either. The new contract gives Brown regular season and playoff assignments. He will continue working Sunday afternoon games with Mark Jones.
Brown’s broadcasting career began in the 80s after coaching stints with the Hawks and Knicks in the NBA and the Kentucky Colonels of the ABA. He briefly left the broadcasting world in 2002 for a three year stint as head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies. He is a two time NBA Coach of the Year and member of the Neismith Basketball Hall of Fame as both a coach and a broadcaster.
