NBC Investigating Paul Tracy For Racist Posts

NBC IndyCar commentator Paul Tracy is being investigated by the network for a racist comment he allegedly made on a friend’s Facebook page. According to the Indianapolis Star both Tracy and a man named Chris Cunningham responded to a post by a mutual friend about the recently arrested Cesar Sayoc. Cunningham made a rude comment about Tracy supporting Republicans. Tracy responded with “No I have invited them all to a party at your house to listen to you play the mini guitar then they are going to rape your wife then you.”

Cunningham supplied a screenshot of the exchange to the paper, but Tracy still denies any wrongdoing. He claims the account that sent that message is an imposter. Tracy has documented social media accounts falsely claiming to be him in the past.

Cunningham says that while he and Tracy aren’t necessarily friends, they do have the same circle of friends, and he finds it hard to believe an imposter would know that he plays the mandolin or “mini guitar” as the poster put it. He also claims that he has interacted with the account in the past to discuss issues related to IndyCar racing.

The Indianapolis Star reached out to NBC for comment. NBC responded on Facebook, saying “We are aware of the issue, and take it very seriously. Paul insists that he did not write the offensive posts. We’re continuing to investigate the situation.”
