Washington Nationals studio analyst Ray Knight is out after twelve years with the MASN broadcast. The decision comes after a verbal altercation with a production staffer that occurred in September, which has been detailed in The Washington Post.
… a person with direct knowledge of that decision said the network pulled Knight after he was involved in a verbal altercation with a member of the MASN production team — an exchange in which Knight berated a MASN employee with an expletive-laden tirade.
That occurred in September. Knight was immediately removed from the studio team at that time.
The incident in the studio came less than a year after Knight was arrested and charged with assault and battery. He was involved in a fight with an acquaintance in October of 2017. The altercation left Knight in need of stitches. Charges stemming from that fight were eventually dropped.
Ray Knight was a journeyman in Major League Baseball, playing for five different clubs in 15 seasons. He was named MVP of the 1986 World Series as a member of the New York Mets. He also managed the Cincinnati Reds in parts of three seasons. As a broadcaster, he worked for Mets, Reds, and ESPN before landing at MASN.
