Lou DiPietro announced last week that today is his final day covering the New York Yankees for the YES Network. He announced on the network’s And We’re Off podcast that he has accepted “an offer I couldn’t refuse” to return to the WWE, where he was previously employed from 2004-2008. He described the decision as “what’s best for me.”
DiPietro spent seven years with YES Network. He had nothing but positive things to say about his soon-to-be former employer, calling it the “best damn RSN in the country” and even offered to come back to cover Wrestlemania for the network and its website. He thanked his co-workers for making YES’s digital department a success.
He also suggested that maybe he isn’t totally shutting the door on covering baseball. “I’m still a Yankee fan. My Twitter handle isn’t going to change. I won’t write for the YES Network, but you never know where I might pop up.”
