After announcing late last week that he would no longer be part of the New York Mets radio booth, The New York Post reports Josh Lewin is heading to San Diego as their new pre and post-game show host for Padres broadcasts on 97.3 The Fan.
The Mets recently left iHeartMedia’s WOR 710 after a five year partnership, agreeing to a new deal with Entercom’s WCBS 880 which led to rumors about potential changes to their broadcast team. After only being employed by Entercom for a few weeks, Lewin will remain with the media company which owns WCBS, the new radio home of the Mets as well as 97.3 The Fan in San Diego, which will reportedly be the new radio home for Lewin.
The veteran sportscaster was born and raised in upstate New York, but Lewin’s family also has ties to San Diego. Lewin even chose a coastal town in the Southern California city as his main residence earlier this year.
Lewin is currently the radio announcer for UCLA men’s basketball and football, he also spent 12 years as the voice of the San Diego Chargers before they moved to Los Angeles in 2017. Although his contract has not been officially signed, expectations are Lewin will be joining a Padres radio broadcast with Ted Leitner as the lead play-by-play announcer along with his partner in the booth, Jesse Agler.
