John Tesh’s “Rondball Rock” is what Sunday sounds like to NBA fans that grew up in the late 80s and early 90s. The song served as a theme to The NBA on NBC during that time. It is as iconic as the SportsCenter theme or Monday Night Football’s “All My Rowdy Friends.”
Earlier this year we reported that John Tesh offered the song to Disney for the company to use when it won the broadcast rights to the NBA in the early part of this century. Disney passed saying that it wanted to create its own identity for NBA broadcasts. It turns out there is another network that wants to make use of that melodic sports masterpiece.
Fox will incorporate “Roundball Rock” into its coverage of college basketball this season. The song will make its Fox debut during a triple header on December 8. The network’s PR team rolled out a graphics package, which included the song, on Twitter on Friday.
