Learfield, the Wisconsin Badgers multimedia rights holder announced in conjunction with iHeartMedia that newly launched 97.3 The Game will be the University’s new sports radio home in Milwaukee.
“We have enjoyed great success with many of our new sports talk and entertainment brands and are excited about the launch of 97.3 THE GAME (WRNW) for Milwaukee and Southwestern Wisconsin,” Division President of iHeartMedia, Jeff Tyler said in a press release.
All Wisconsin Badger broadcasts will continue to be heard on The Game’s sister station, WOKY AM “The Big 920.” WOKY had served as the exclusive home of the Wisconsin Badgers for the last five years, taking over for WTMJ 620 in 2013.
“We are also pleased to continue and expand our longtime partnership with Learfield’s Badgers Sports Properties and the University of Wisconsin with The Game, The BIG 920 (WOKY) and all the other Milwaukee stations and of course our iHeartRadio brand,” added Tyler.
Their new FM partnership began last weekend with Wisconsin’s men’s basketball game against Marquette on Saturday and will feature all Badger broadcasts, including the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on December 27th.
“We have a great radio partner in iHeartMedia, and we know Badger fans will easily adapt to making the switch to 97.3 The Game to hear all things Badgers,” said Badger Sports Properties’ Vice President and General Manager Scott Silvestri.
In addition to their flagship 97.3 The Game, The Wisconsin Badger Sports Network can be heard on more than 70 radio stations throughout Wisconsin.
