After an angry mob stormed the U.S. Capitol, and a spotlight was shined on those who advocated for violence on federal lawmakers and the current vice president, tech companies Amazon, Google, Apple and others distanced themselves from popular conservative social media platform Parler.
Amazon Web Services, which provided web hosting to Parler, ultimately forced the platform to go offline after both Google and Apple removed the social media app from their respective stores.
Parler CEO John Matze said with so many abandoning ship, it could put the company out of business.
“It would put anybody out of business,” he told FOX News. “This thing could destroy anybody.”
Matze also said they’re doing all that they can in order to get the app back online, but the difficulty is in those who have allegiances to Google and Apple.
“We’re going to try our best to get back online as quickly as possible,” he said. “But we’re having a lot of trouble because every vendor we talk to says they won’t work with us. Because if Apple doesn’t approve and Google doesn’t approve, they won’t.”
