Fox News host Sean Hannity is speaking out about the appeal of the network which is now in its 25th year. Hannity recently told The Hollywood Reporter that he has never tried to fool his audience into thinking that he’s a journalist.
“When you’re watching these people that claim to be journalists, you know they’re not journalists, they are talk show hosts like me, but I’m honest about it and I think that honesty actually goes a long way with the audience,” said about some of the other conservative news outlets that have popped up over the year.
Hannity also hosts a nationally syndicated radio show that reaches more than 15 million people a week on more than 600 affiliates across the United States.
Part of Hannity’s appeal is his straightforward approach to covering the news. His TV show, Hannity averaged 2.9 million viewers in Q3 behind Tucker Carlson and Fox’s The Five.
“In many ways, I think the mission has stayed the same,” he says. “I mean I know critics of Fox wouldn’t agree with this statement but trust me when I say there are plenty of people at Fox that don’t agree with Sean Hannity.”
Hannity inked an extension with Fox News last year. The network also signed hosts Laura Ingraham and Tucker Carlson to extension deals ensuring the nucleus of the network’s success will stay intact for the time being.
