Fox News host Jesse Watters accused MSNBC of trying to brainwash its audience after Joy Reid swore in a hot-mic incident earlier this week. Keith Olbermann doesn’t trust the source of the criticism.
During his Countdown with Keith Olbermann podcast, the former cable news host took a shot at Watters for his criticism of Reid.
“MSNBC’s Joy Reid swore on the air the other night, apparently, and Watters — who is so unjustifiably self-confident that he truly owes part or most of his salary to professors Dunning and Kruger in licensing fees — decided that it was all part of a plot of some kind,” said Olbermann.
“What kind of plot he didn’t say. ‘MSNBC doesn’t respect their audience’, he said. He has them there,” joked Olbermann. “But he then blew the thing by adding ‘They’re not putting on a show to inform their viewers. It’s a brainwashing op.’ Everything to Jesse is an op. Problem here is to recognize a brainwashing op, Jesse, you’d have to have a brain.”
Watters criticized MSNBC, claiming there is division in the ranks about how to cover former President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Olbermann joked that Watters — who began his career as an intern for Bill O’Reilly — isn’t qualified to make any criticism about the ethics of a news organization.
