The reviews are flooding in the day after last night’s Pat McAfee Show arena program Big Night Aht, where the former NFL punter turned media personality hosted over twelve thousand people to a night of entertainment and prizing at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. While the night did provide the local Pittsburgh-based crowd with a lot of local sports celebrity, it did not, however, introduce a new quarterback to the Pittsburgh Steelers, as there had been some speculation that it would.
Meanwhile, Fred Toucher on 98.5 The Sports Hub discussed the event briefly on this morning’s Toucher & Hardy program, stating that he can imagine the audience who bought tickets to the event could not have been happy with the outcome of the night.
“They had to be supremely disappointed, the audience had to be supremely disappointed,” said Toucher. “The reason that the place probably sold out is they thought it may be featuring one of his guests, and there was no Aaron Rodgers.”
Rodgers has been reported to be a target for the Pittsburgh Steelers for their currently vacant quarterback position, as both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields have left to join other franchises. Additionally, Rodgers has been linked to joining the franchise, although no offer has been made as of yet. McAfee, in a separate media appearance, joined former Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger on his podcast and clarified that Rodgers was not scheduled to be a part of last night’s festivities. However, that statement came well after tickets had already been sold for the event.
“Apparently there was this anticipation that the reason he’s (McAfee) famous, which is the Aaron Rodgers interviews, that he was going to produce Aaron Rodgers and Rodgers was announcing that he was coming to the Steelers,” noted Toucher. “He did not show up. I guess there was hijinks like sumo wrestling and him doing a comedic monolog, which we will make fun of a lot tomorrow.”
Rodgers is a weekly guest of The Pat McAfee Show during the NFL season, which is carried on ESPN through the network’s arrangement with McAfee. While Toucher explained that he didn’t watch the event itself, he added that he plans to provide commentary on the full event during Friday’s program.
