Peacock To Exclusively Stream WWE ‘Saturday Night’s Main Event’

"NBCU have been terrific longtime partners, and we look forward to continuing to work with them for years to come"

Date:

Peacock and WWE have announced a multi-year agreement to exclusively stream Saturday Night’s Main Event on the NBCUniversal-owned platform. The move marks the latest chapter in WWE’s evolving media strategy as the company continues to expand its premium live event offerings across streaming.

The iconic program, which first debuted in 1985 on NBC, will stream four times annually in primetime on Peacock. According to the companies, each event will feature WWE’s biggest stars, ongoing rivalries, and championship matches.

The partnership kicks off Nov. 1, with another highly anticipated edition set for Dec. 13. That event will feature John Cena competing in his retirement match, which is expected to draw significant interest from fans.

In a statement, WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque expressed optimism about the renewed relationship with NBCUniversal. “We’re excited to bring Saturday Night’s Main Event exclusively to Peacock beginning this fall,” Levesque said. “NBCU have been terrific longtime partners, and we look forward to continuing to work with them for years to come.”

Rick Cordella, president of NBC Sports, echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the value of WWE programming within Peacock’s growing sports and entertainment portfolio. “Peacock has had a wonderful relationship with the WWE and we’re excited to see it continue far into the future,” Cordella said. “Saturday Night’s Main Event is some of the most premium content the WWE produces, including John Cena’s upcoming retirement match, and it will be all live and exclusive on Peacock.”

The agreement also extends other elements of WWE content on Peacock. The WWE Network library will remain available on the platform through the end of 2025, while NXT Premium Live Events will continue to stream until March 2026. Additionally, the SmackDown library will remain accessible on a 30-day delay, with USA Network maintaining live rights to the Friday night show.

This agreement follows the WWE announcing moving their premium live events from Peacock to the new ESPN direct-to-consumer platform beginning in September.

For WWE, the deal provides continuity with a trusted partner while giving Peacock exclusive programming that can drive subscriptions and engagement. The company has leaned heavily into streaming over the past several years, first migrating WWE Network content to Peacock in 2021. Since then, premium live events like WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble have delivered strong streaming numbers, bolstering NBCU’s case for continuing to invest in WWE content.

Saturday Night’s Main Event holds a unique place in WWE’s history, having originally aired as a network television special that gave mainstream audiences a taste of professional wrestling during the 1980s boom. The series returned briefly in the 2000s before being revived in September 2024 with a special event from Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York—the same venue that hosted the inaugural edition nearly four decades earlier.
