Politico reporter Jake Traylor has announced he is exiting the digital outlet to join MSNBC as a new White House correspondent for the cable network.
Traylor is no stranger to the White House. He has covered the early months of President Donald Trump’s second term there for Politico, focusing his attention on tech aspects that involved the likes of Elon Musk and Tim Cook, among others.
In a statement on social media, Jake Traylor shared his excitement in joining MSNBC.
“For me, journalism has always been about pursuing truth and helping people make sense of it,” Traylor shared. “I can’t wait to keep focusing on that mission. See you on screen!”
Traylor’s addition to the network’s White House team comes as it prepares to transition from its longtime MSNBC brand to the MS NOW branding it announced last month. That rebrand comes as the network has prepared to split from parent company NBCUniversal as part of the Versant cable spinoff.
In recent weeks, the network has hired nearly 40 journalists from other outlets as it builds out its talent roster. Included in those additions is Nnamdi Egwuonwu, who will also join MSNBC in a White House role, similar to that of Jake Traylor.
Egwuonwu joins from NBC News, where he has worked at the White House to begin President Trump’s second term. He previously worked as an embedded reporter during the 2024 presidential election cycle, covering the campaigns of President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC).
