Milwaukee has its first sports-talk radio station on the FM dial — a simulcast of long-running sports-talk WSSP-AM (1250) — and the new outlet is called “Sports Radio 105.7 The Fan.”
Both stations are owned by Entercom Communications Corp., of Bala Cynwyd, Pa., with studios in Hales Corners. “The Fan” features a lineup of local shows including Bill Michaels as well as CBS Radio Network programming and Milwaukee Admirals games.
The station at 105.7 FM generates 240 watts of power, which is much less than typical commercial FM radio signals of between 6,000 watts and 50,000 watts. However, Entercom executives say “105.7 The Fan” will reach all of metro Milwaukee.
Entercom bought a construction permit for 105.7 FM from Kevin Youngers for $300,000 and applied to relocate the translator to the antenna tower of the company’s WXSS-FM (“Kiss FM” 103.7), according to radioinsight.com.
