Alaa Abdelnaby Joins Sixers Broadcast Team

Comcast SportsNet announced today that former Philadelphia 76er and NBA veteran Alaa Abdelnaby is the newest member of the Sixers broadcast team partnering with Marc Zumoff and Molly French (formerly Molly Sullivan) for the 2015-16 season. This trio will make their debut tonight at 7 p.m. when the Sixers take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in a preseason matchup on The Comcast Network.

Abdelnaby played five seasons in the NBA, including a stint with the Sixers in 1995. His broadcasting resume includes working as a color commentator for Westwood One Radio. He also serves as a color commentator and studio analyst with CBS Sports Network.  Abdelnaby has called a number of NCAA Tournament games including the 2015 Final Four featuring 76ers rookie Jahlil Okafor as a member of the Duke Blue Devils. Alaa is a 1990 graduate of Duke University.

“The opportunity to join the Comcast SportsNet and 76ers family and work alongside Marc and Molly is tremendously exciting,” said Abdelnaby. “The 76ers are building something special and I look forward to sharing their story with our viewers.”

“Alaa is a seasoned broadcaster who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our telecast. He will be a great partner for Marc and Molly, and we are thrilled about the opportunity to work with him” said Comcast SportsNet President Brian Monihan.  “With this young Sixers team, Alaa’s tremendous passion for the game of basketball, his insights, and feel for the players will prove a valuable asset to our telecasts, and our viewers.”

“We are proud to welcome back Alaa to Philadelphia and have no doubt that the experience he brings from his time at Duke, his NBA career and broadcast work at a national level will be embraced by our city and fans,” said Sixers Chief Executive Officer Scott O’Neil. “Along with Marc Zumoff and Molly French, we are very excited about our broadcast team – routinely considered one of the best in the NBA – and look forward to their debut season.”
