St. Louis Outperforming Chicago In TV Ratings

St. Louis again trounced Chicago in ratings for the first-round playoff series involving the National League teams representing the cities. Nielsen, which measures viewership, says 23 percent of homes in the St. Louis market tuned in to the telecast of Game 2 on Saturday. The rating in Chicago for the contest, won by the Cubs 6-3, was 14.9.

That follows St. Louis romping in the ratings battle for the series opener, 27.8-16.8. The Cardinals won that contest, on Friday, 4-0.

That puts the series rating average at 25.4 in St. Louis and 15.9 in Chicago. All games are being shown on TBS.

Nationally, Nielsen says Saturday’s telecast averaged 4.6 million viewers. Much of that coverage was in prime time. The New York-Los Angeles NL game that followed, which ended well after prime time, averaged 4.1 million viewers.
