St. Louis sports radio listeners are going to have a second choice available soon on the FM dial. CBS Sports 920 which is operated by Tim McKernan’s company InsideSTL, has formed a new partnership with Emmis Communications to simulcast their programming on Emmis’ 105.7 HD-2 platform. McKernan broke the news on his Facebook page.
The new venture brings InsideSTL’s programming onto the FM airwaves for the first time in company history. There are no indications at this time that Emmis will expand the relationship or adjust its programming on 105.7 The Point, Now 96.3, FM News Talk 97.1 or KSHE 95, but it’ll be something to keep an eye on in the future.
Currently there are seven stations in St. Louis offering some form of sports talk programming. Six of them are on the AM dial. Only 101 ESPN has been available on FM. Starting in January 2016, that number will double when CBS Sports 920 enters the FM space.
