790 The Ticket Bounces Back In Miami

During the past few months, WQAM-560 has held the ratings advantage over 790 The Ticket in Miami. But in January, the tide turned.

The Ticket, which has undergone some staffing changes, and switched to an exclusive AM presentation last September, beat WQAM in nearly every daypart.

In the key demographic of Men 25-54, 790’s morning show led by Jonathan Zaslow (Joy Taylor was part of the program for most of the month but has since left for a television opportunity with Fox Sports 1) produced a 3.0 from 5:30a-9a which was higher than WQAM who delivered a 2.4.

Dan Le Batard, who does a one hour local program from 9a-10a, finished ahead of WQAM’s Joe Rose and Curtis Stevenson 2.8 to 1.5. Le Batard’s national program on ESPN Radio which airs on 790 from 10a-1p beat WQAM’s “Big O” Orlando Alzugaray 1.5 to 1.1.

During the 1p-3p hours, Eric Reed’s show on The Ticket edged WQAM 1.2 to 1.0.

In the 3p-4p hour where The Ticket features a “Best of The Dan Le Batard Show”, a tie took place as WQAM’s Marc Hochman, Zach Krantz & Channing Crowder matched 790 with a 1.1.

Rounding things out, Ethan Skolnick led The Ticket to a win from 4p-7p, beating WQAM 2.1 to 1.4.

One important item to note, WQAM’s Hochman, Krantz and Crowder did narrowly beat The Ticket during the hours of 2p-6p.

Overall it was a good bounce back month for The Ticket but with Joy Taylor now gone from The Ticket’s morning show and an afternoon co-host for Skolnick still being worked on, big questions loom for the future. Heading into February though with a lead in the ratings is very encouraging news for the folks at 790.
