When Bill Simmons appeared on Mike Francesa’s show on WFAN last October, sports radio fans learned that the two high profile media stars discussed teaming up when Chris “Mad Dog” Russo left The Fan in 2008. But the idea seemed fictional given each of their positions in the industry.
The thought generated some mainstream buzz, and now it’s been confirmed by Simmons that he and Francesa will join forces for the first time ever and host one show together on WFAN next month. Bill revealed the news earlier today on Twitter.
With Francesa claiming he’s done at WFAN after 2017, and Simmons building his own media empire, is a future marriage in the works? Does Simmons’ media group have enough resources and influence to reunite Francesa and Russo?
If there’s anything we’ve learned over the years about these two personalities, they keep things interesting. Next month’s show should only add more fuel to the fire.
