The Dodgers Sign Monday and Steiner To New Deals

The Los Angeles Dodgers are keeping their radio team in tact. The team announced it has secured multi-year agreements with Rick Monday and Charley Steiner. The pair have worked together for the past 12 years on the Dodgers’ flagship station AM 570 LA Sports and the Dodgers Radio Network.

Monday, 70, is presently working his 24th season as a Dodgers broadcaster. He’s spent a total of 32 seasons with the club, eight of them as a player.

“I have been privileged over the years to call the Dodgers family and Dodger Stadium home, and my broadcast partner my friend,” Monday said. “I’m really looking forward to continuing this great experience with all of our wonderful fans.”

Steiner, 66, is working his 12th season as a play by play voice for the franchise. He began his career in 1969, and spent 14 years with ESPN and three seasons with the New York Yankees.

“From the time I was 7 years of age, back when the Dodgers were in Brooklyn, all I ever wanted to be was an announcer for the Dodgers,” Steiner said. “And to continue on in a place that I love, with a partner who is a good friend, and spending the last dozen years with Vin [Scully], there isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t pinch myself.”
