FOX Sports Radio has announced that podcast listens for The Herd with Colin Cowherd reached 5.7 million across all platforms for the month of March. That’s the first time that total podcast listens for the show have eclipsed the 5 million mark.
Cowherd’s program according to FOX Sports Radio has also enjoyed significant growth across multiple demos. The network says the show is +61% with Adults 18-49, +51% with Adults 25-54, +55% with Men 18-49, and in the key demo of Men 25-54, which many sports radio station’s focus their on-air strategies, the show is +54%.
Flipping the switch to television, The Herd on FS1 has also produced strong gains. The show is up 88% year-over-year for the month of March with Persons 2+, and clips of The Herd on social media have produced nearly 380 million video views since September 2015, with a monthly average of 21 million, via Facebook, YouTube, FOXSports.com, the live-streaming FOX Sports Go app and Twitter video player.
Although the progress from Cowherd is excellent, critics will quickly point out that the show was supposed to gain traction given that it was developed only two years ago and had little before it to measure up to. The real challenge will come in the form of closing the gap on ESPN and becoming the preferred destination for sports fans on radio, television, digital and social media platforms. While there’s still much more work to be done, the latest growth is a positive sign that Cowherd’s show is trending in the right direction.
