KNBR 1050 and ESPN Radio have struck a multiyear deal to turn mornings over over to Trey Wingo and Mike Golic when they officially debut on November 27th. ESPN Radio’s Mike & Mike will move into morning drive on the station as of today and remain in the timeslot until their final show on November 17th.
“We are thrilled that sports fans in the Bay Area will have the option of listening to Golic and Wingo on KTCT on their morning drive each weekday,” said Traug Keller, senior vice president, ESPN Radio. “Information, analysis, interesting guests and fun will provide a nice respite from the daily grind of the commute!”
Jeremiah Crowe, program director of KNBR 680 and 1050, added, “Cumulus Media San Francisco is excited to partner with Trey Wingo and Mike Golic as they get set to take over morning drive at ESPN Radio Network. The two hosts will make a great pair and provide Bay Area sports fans with the informative and energetic show they deserve during their morning commute. I’m proud to announce this multi-year agreement, which will strengthen our integration of ESPN’s top-notch sports programming and talent across both KTCT 1050 and KNBR 680.”
KNBR 1050 had recently featured The Audible with Drew Hoffar, Kevin Frandsen and Rudy Ortiz in mornings. With ESPN Radio gaining the timeslot, Hoffar and Frandsen are expected to remain on board and contribute in some capacity to KNBR 680. Ortiz is no longer with the radio station.
Due to ESPN Radio’s morning show airing on the west coast LIVE between the hours of 3a-7a PT, that requires a few minor adjustments. 1050 plans to air Mike & Mike and the Golic-Wingo show LIVE from 3a-5a PT. They will then broadcast the full four hour edition of ESPN Radio’s morning show via tape delay between the hours of 5a-9a PT.
