For over two decades, Mike North delivered an impact in sports talk radio. But as the old saying goes, all good things must come to an end.
It started 25 years ago when the former hot dog stand owner rose to prominence as one of the top personalities at 670 The Score in Chicago. After becoming a seven figure talent and spending nearly 17 years with The Score, North departed in 2008.
His contributions to sports radio didn’t end there though. He continued to make his presence felt by teaming up with Andy Furman in morning drive on FOX Sports Radio. His national stint with FSR came to an end in September 2016 but North has stayed active by hosting the “Sticks To Stones” podcast for Gow Media’s Podcast Arena.
In a conversation with WTTW-Channel 11’s Phil Pence, North said, “I’m heading in another direction because I think the timing is right. I’m not leaving broadcasting. I’m leaving sports radio.”
North added that he plans to live part-time in Las Vegas and serve as a spokesman for Light Keeper Pro, a Glenview-based manufacturer of holiday light repair tools. Details of additional media projects will be passed along in the future should they become available.
