The Athletic made an announcement regarding its NBA coverage today. The site will add three new writers including Sam Amick, formerly of USA Today, Zach Harper, formerly of FanRag Sports and CBSSports.com, and Frank Isola, formerly of The New York Daily News. Shams Charania had already joined The Athletic for NBA coverage earlier this year. David Aldridge, who will exit TNT next month to join the company as the editor-in-chief of The Athletic DC will also contribute to NBA coverage.
New team coverage is also being added to The Athletic. The site announced that it has added reporters to cover the Cavaliers, Jazz, Kings, Raptors, Spurs, and Thunder. It brings the total number of NBA teams covered by The Athletic to 25. Phillip Bupp of Awful Announcing writes that he expects all 30 teams to be covered by the site by next month.
