Mike Francesa was absent from his show on WFAN on Monday, but was back Tuesday. He told listeners that the absence couldn’t be avoided as he was busy filming scenes for a new movie with Adam Sandler called Uncut Gems.

The movie is being produced by Martin Scorsese. The Sports Pope described it as a “serious movie” and bragged that Uncut Gems is “actually gonna open in movie theaters,” and “it’s not like a Netflix movie or anything.”
Francesa’s involvement in a project with Adam Sandler and Martin Scorsese makes a lot of sense. Scorsese loves to inject as much New York into his movies as possible, and who is more New York than Francesa? Sandler is a noted New York sports fan, and is no stranger to including his favorite sports talk hosts, such as Sean Salisbury and most notably Dan Patrick, in his films.
