Cranston Talks Breaking Bad Movie With Dan Patrick

Dan Patrick is one of the best known sports radio hosts in history, and his fame goes beyond just sports fans. He has been a mainstay of Adam Sandler movies for two decades, and has made actors and musicians regular guests on his radio show. So, maybe if anyone in the sports radio universe was going to break news about a Breaking Bad movie, it was going to be him.

On this morning’s show Patrick asked Bryan Cranston directly if there was going to be a Breaking Bad movie and if so, would Cranston be interested in reprising the role of Walter White, the high school chemistry teacher that turns to a life of making crystal meth after receiving a cancer diagnosis.

Cranston answered “there appears to be a movie version of Breaking Bad” and noted that while creator Vince Gilligan had reached out to him, “I have not gotten the script. I have not read the script.” He even suggested that it is possible the movie wouldn’t include the Walter White character at all. You can watch their whole exchange here.

The show, which ran for more than five years on AMC created a dedicated fan base and has routinely been called one of the best in TV history. Cranston noted that some fans left the September 2013 finale feeling unsatisfied. That, he said, is what has created the desire for a movie, and he hopes to be involved.

If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, absolutely, because he is a genius. And there’s a lot of people that felt like they wanted completion to some of these storylines that were left open.

Cranston noted that the show “was the greatest professional period of my life.” The discussion ended with Patrick saying that his wife had just started watching the show.
