Joe D’Angelo of Xperi, Larry Rosin of Edison Research to Host Sessions at the 2023 BSM Summit

In just 34 days, the BSM Summit returns to Los Angeles for the first time in 4 years. The Founders Club at USC’s Galen Center is our home for the 2023 Summit on March 21-22, and it’s an excellent location. Hopefully you’ve secured your ticket and hotel room. If you haven’t done so, please don’t wait much longer. Once rooms are full and seats are taken we can’t add more.

Before I jump ahead and tell you about the latest additions to our speaker lineup, I want to provide an update and huge THANK YOU to a few partners.

First, I am thrilled to welcome the WWE as this year’s Kickoff party sponsor. Those who know me understand my affinity for the world of sports entertainment. The WWE does a tremendous job creating content and serving audiences across multiple platforms, while simultaneously opening doors to different revenue streams. They’re a global force and I’m grateful to have their support.

Next, I want to welcome two more new partners to the Summit. Joining us as vendor partners this year are Veritone and Xperi. Both of these brands are committed to making sure the industry has the best data, dashboard and artificial intelligence tools to thrive in a digital environment. I’ve had a chance to familiarize myself with their products, meet key people from their groups, and see them present information at industry shows. I encourage my management friends to connect with them at the Summit and research them online to learn more about what they can provide to help you grow your businesses. It’s pretty impressive.

Next, we’re not able to attract new partners if existing clients didn’t have a great experience working with us. Thankfully, the majority of our conference partners return each year. Two that I am excited to have back with us are Westwood One and Good Karma Brands. GKB will have a number of employees in attendance and representation on stage in a few sessions. Westwood One will too. I’m especially looking forward to having my former boss Bruce Gilbert deliver a modernized presentation of the 20 Deadly Sins of Radio. Having seen the original rolled out back during my days at ESPN, I know programming folks will get a lot out of it.

If you’ve been considering a sponsorship for the Summit this year, my advice is to move quickly. We have 18 partners involved in this year’s show and are nearly sold out. In addition to the five companies mentioned above, we’ve previously announced ESPN Radio, Showtime, FOX Sports, Premiere Networks, Point to Point Marketing, Steve Stone Voiceovers, Core Image Studio, Silver Tribe Media, Bonneville International Corporation, MRN, Locked On Podcast Network, and Compass Media Networks as 2023 BSM Summit partners. That means the remaining few opportunities are first come, first served. For details on what’s left, email Stephanie at Sales@BarrettSportsMedia.com.

Now let’s talk about the latest additions to our lineup.

Making programming decisions to improve a brand can be tricky especially if you aren’t armed with the right information. Good programmers may rely on their gut and ears but knowing what your customers want and reject is vital for growing a business. That’s where Larry Rosin of Edison Research comes in. Larry runs one of the world’s most respected survey research companies and his “Share of Ear Report”, “Infinite Dial”, and “Spoken Word Audio Report” are three research projects used frequently by media companies to guide key decisions. Larry will join us at the Summit to educate brand leaders on the latest opportunities, challenges, and trends in the spoken word audio space.

Another gentlemen I’m excited to have speak at the Summit this year is Joe D’Angelo of Xperi. Media folks understand the importance of providing a great experience inside of the car and gaining a deeper understanding of the different types of content consumers value. The work Xperi does to deliver best in class dashboard personalization, and a greater understanding of audience habits is superb. They work with the world’s leading brands in audio and video, as well as with the auto industry, and after seeing Joe present some eye popping data at the NAB, and learning more about the company, I knew he’d be a great addition to our lineup. GM’s and PD’s, make sure you’re in the room for his presentation. You’ll be either filling up a notebook with notes or asking for the deck afterwards.

Having smart people in the room with actionable information is important, and I’m thrilled that Larry and Joe are able to make time to join us in LA. We are coming down the home stretch, which means we’ll have some final names to reveal leading up to the show. If everything comes together as planned, folks are going to be excited by a few of the remaining announcements. I’m expecting to make one of them next week. Make sure you keep an eye out. It’s one I’m really looking forward to hosting.

In closing, if you’re planning to attend and haven’t bought your ticket or reserved your hotel room, please do so asap. I want to accommodate everyone but we have to start putting everything together to make sure we can deliver a successful two-day event for our attendees. Everything you need to know can be found on BSMSummit.com. We also promote the event across all of our social media pages.

It’s going to be a great few days in Los Angeles and if you love the sports media business, meeting other professionals, and learning from folks who’ve created a lot of success in the industry, this is where you need to be. I hope to see you there!
