With the upcoming retirement of Dave Ross and Colleen O’Brien, KIRO Newsradio 97.3 didn’t have to look far for their replacement, as Charlie Harger will anchor Seattle’s Morning News going forward.
Harger has been the News Director at KIRO since 2021. He joined after previously serving 19 years as an anchor and reporter at crosstown KOMO.
“Honestly, no one can fill Dave Ross’s shoes,” said Harger. “He’s a legend, and I’m just honored to be stepping into this role after him. It’s a big responsibility, and I’m excited to keep the tradition going. I want to help everyone start their day a little better informed and more connected to what’s happening around us. Whether it’s breaking news or a story that makes you smile, my goal is to make sure our listeners feel ready to take on the day.”
Harger will step into the shoes vacated by the retirement of Dave Ross and the departure of Colleen O’Brien. The duo have hosted Seattle’s Morning News for the past decade from 5-9 AM on the Bonneville Seattle station. Ross has been with the outlet for 47 years, hosting mornings since 2013. O’Brien joined him in the daypart a year later. The pair’s final day together will be on Thursday, December 19th.
Charlie Harger is set to begin anchoring the KIRO Newsradio 97.3 morning news program on Monday, December 23rd.
