After a one-month absence, The Ticket (KTCK-FM 96.7 and KTCK-AM 1310) has returned to the top of the Dallas-Fort Worth sports talk ratings mountain that includes The Fan (KRLD-FM 105.3) and KESN-FM (103.3.) in the target demographic of men 25-54.
In Nielsen’s latest period, which covers July 16 to Aug 12, the monthly score was:
The Ticket – 4.3; The Fan – 3.9; KESN – 2.0.
On another level, men 25-54 from Monday to Friday 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., when the big-name, high-priced local talent is on the air, it was:
The Ticket – 5.3; The Fan – 3.7; KESN – 2.2
Note: Keep in mind that there still was lots of pre-Cowboys season vacation time taken by regular hosts.
As usual, The Ticket’s Morning Musers finished way ahead of the sports talk pack. George Dunham, Craig Miller and Gordon Keith scored an 8.8 share among men 25-54. Closest was the station’s Hardline at 5.0, followed by The Fan’s Ben & Skin at 4.9.
Among all listeners, a category for which sports talk stations have little regard because it doesn’t pay the bills, it was:
The Fan – 2.8; The Ticket – 2.0; KESN 1.1
Here’s a breakdown by show of the Monday-Friday August men 25-54 ratings for 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.:
