Could Mad Dog Russo Replace Francesa on WFAN?

Would Chris “Mad Dog” Russo entertain a return to WFAN when his former partner, Mike Francesa, leaves the radio station at the end of his contract in 2017?

Although that decision is nearly two years away, Russo didn’t deny interest in the possibility when pressed by WFAN’s morning team of “Boomer and Carton” last week on radio row in San Francisco.

Carton asked Chris on Wednesday’s show if he’d like to be considered to replace Francesa on WFAN in two years and Russo said “That’s two years down the road. It’s a long way off. But who wouldn’t like to be considered?”

When Carton added “So you’d like the job?”, Russo followed up by saying ‘Who wouldn’t?’ I mean that’s an ego thing, right? Everybody wants to be considered.”

Chris mentioned that his contract with SiriusXM is coming up later this year and they are unlikely to sign him to a short-term deal which is what would be necessary in order to be an option for WFAN in 2018.

Carton asked Chris if he had reached out to CBS or if the network had pursued a conversation with him and he swore that neither side had spoken about any future possibilities.
