Mike Valenti Signs Contract Extension At 97.1 The Ticket

97.1 The Ticket demonstrated how much they believed in Mike Valenti by standing behind him when tensions escalated with the Detroit Lions this past November. The unwavering support factored into the Lions’ decision to switch radio stations and move their games to WJR.

Today, Valenti reaffirmed his commitment to CBS Detroit, and the radio station he’s helped develop into one of the nation’s top performers, by signing a new long term agreement. The news was first reported by All Access.

The opinionated afternoon host has been a member of The Ticket since 2004, sharing the airwaves with his longtime partner and former Detroit News columnist Terry Foster. The duo have maintained their #1 position among Men 25-54 and Adults 25-54 for more than five years.

Program Director Jimmy Powers said, “I am pleased Mike will continue to be part of many Detroiters’ drive home every day for years to come. He has the uncanny ability to give listeners a unique perspective, honesty and strong opinions like very few in the industry.”

CBS Detroit Market Manager Debbie Kenyon added, “Mike is an extraordinary talent who I respect personally and professionally. He is opinionated and often controversial, but is always able to back it up with facts. Mike is a true professional and we’re thrilled to have him on the 97.1 team for years to come.”

Valenti offered, “I’m happy to continue to be part of one of the great Sports Talk stations in the country where I can speak to, inform and entertain my loyal audience daily.”
