Two years ago, Jerry Thornton left Barstool Sports to join the afternoon show with Dale Arnold and Michael Holley on Boston sports radio station WEEI. But despite settling in and helping the show experience success and growth over the past twenty four months, Thornton has decided it’s time to return to his roots.
In addition to appearing as the third man on The Dale & Holley Show, Thornton also authored the Thornography blog on WEEI.com. He’s performed as a standup comic all around New England and appeared on Comcast Sports New England and HBO’s “Curse of the Bambino”.
WEEI hasn’t announced yet if they’ll replace his position on the afternoon show or stick with Dale and Holley as a two-man team. Thornton revealed he was exiting the radio station in a blog post on his website.
WEEI had a good relationship with Thornton and the two sides are parting ways on great terms. Thornton simply felt that an increased role at Barstool Sports, a place which he played an integral role with previously, was too good to pass up.
Thornton is expected to remain on WEEI for the next two weeks before moving on to his new opportunity with Barstool.
