Barstool Sports Adds Radio Show on SiriusXM

Barstool Sports has reached a deal with SiriusXM to deliver a national daily show starting January 3rd according to the Hollywood Reporter. Barstool Radio on SiriusXM will air on SiriusXM’s Rush channel, weekdays from noon to 2pm ET, and feature Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, and members of his New York based media company.

Portnoy, known to Barstool Sports fans as “El Presidente”, says the radio show will become his top priority. The program will offer a peak behind the curtain of everyday life at Barstool, and cover stories by looking at them through a satirical lens.

“We had a lot of fans internally of the Barstool website,” said Steve Cohen, SiriusXM’s Senior VP of sports programming. “I got excited about the opportunity to work with these people and bring their brand to radio.”

Barstool presently has a staff of 50 contributing to its website, podcasts and social media platforms. It attracts seven million readers per month and has been focused on expanding its footprint since Portnoy sold a majority stake in the company to The Chernin Group.

New CEO, former AOL executive Erika Nardini, said about the SiriusXM deal, “It has been a great home for creators, and an awesome platform for people who have a lot to say and are interesting in their own right. And that’s one of the things that makes Barstool really unique.”
