According to the New York Daily News, WFAN is reducing expenses by trimming the travel of Sweeney Murti and Ed Coleman. The station’s lead reporters for Yankees and Mets coverage had traditionally accompanied each team on all its road trips. That will change this season.

Colin Cowherd released a fascinating Saturday podcast which included an in-depth conversation with Jason Whitlock about a variety of sports media subjects including ESPN’s challenges, the pros and cons of social media, racism in sports and media, why women deserve more inclusion in sports debates, and the reason why Colin avoids talking politics on his program. Our well wishes go out to Vic “The Brick” Jacobs who is undergoing treatment for Stage 3 colon cancer. The Los Angeles radio personality told listeners last Tuesday on the “Petros and Money” show on AM 570 L.A. Sports that he had completed the first round of treatments and would be taking time away to attend to his health. 570 has posted a website link for supporters who wish to post videos of encouragement for Jacobs.

The Detroit Free Press wrote a great piece on 97.1 The Ticket morning host Mike Stone. The article takes a look at Stone’s authenticity and transparency with local listeners, and the way he’s approached his craft for nearly three decades. To read it click here.

With Zach Bye off to Denver to host middays with Brandon Stokley on 104.3 The Fan, Chris Onorato will get an opportunity to produce and co-host Big Board Sports with Rodger Wyland for 104.5 The Team in Albany, NY. Onorato officially starts his new role on March 23rd.

Congratulations to WEEI‘s former voice guy and imaging director Pete Gustin, who has been retained by the FOX News Channel to become the network’s new on-air voice talent. To hear Gustin’s work click here.

On Friday March 24th, former 92.9 The Game and 610 The Fan WFNZ drive time host Marc James steps in for Jim Rome on the CBS Sports Radio Network.

On the upcoming Mac and Monz podcast on WFAN, WWE superstars Enzo and Big Cass will drop by for a conversation prior to their tag team title match at this year’s WrestleMania. Mac and Monz plan to dedicate the entire episode to previewing the WWE’s biggest event of the year.

Northwestern University journalism major Tim Hackett has been named the new radio voice of the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The summer league baseball team begins play in late May.
