Two NBA Reporters Changing Outlets

Richard Deitsch broke news of two NBA reporters finding new homes in his “Media Circus” column at The Athletic today. Those writers are Tim Bontemps and Chris Mannix.

Bontemps is headed to ESPN. He has been the national NBA writer at The Washington Post since 2015. He is based in San Francisco, so it stands to reason that ESPN may want to take advantage of his proximity to the Warriors’ juggernaut. He also hosts a podcast for The Post called Posting Up. It is unknown at this time whether or not Bontemps will host a podcast for ESPN.

Chris Mannix is leaving Yahoo after three years to return to Sports Illustrated. Mannix serves as a studio analyst for NBC Sports Boston, and has hosted radio programs in the past for FOX Sports Radio, and NBC Sports Radio. He also recently signed on with streaming sports service DAZN as a host for the platform’s boxing coverage.

As part of Mannix’s return, he’ll move his boxing and basketball podcasts to SI. A future show on SI TV is also expected in the future.
